LOWER SCHOOL ACADEMICS

 

 

Curriculum, PreK – 5th Grade

1.         Our curriculum is an academically challenging Christian curriculum with strong phonics based reading instruction.

2.         Computer, Music, P.E., Library, and Spanish are additional subjects taught from 1st through 5th.  PreK and Kindergarten also have Spanish, Music, and Library.

3.         Chapel services are a regular part of the curriculum.

4.         Each day includes a Bible lesson and Pledges to the American and Christian flags and to the Bible.

 

 

Grading Scale

 

The purpose of the grading system is to give parents and students an indication of progress or lack of progress made by the student.    

The following grading scale is used for all students in grades 1 – 5.

 

                                    Mark                Range               Grade Points

 

                                    A                     93 – 100           4.0

 

                                    B                      85 – 92            3.0

 

                                    C                     77 – 84             2.0

 

                                    D                     70 – 76             1.0

 

                                    F                      Below – 69       0

 

Grades are reported to parents at the end of each  4 1/2 weeks.

  

 

Elementary Disciplinary Procedure

 

            Step 1: Verbal correction and warning

 

            Step 2:Verbal correction and loss of recess time. Written work may be required of the student at this time.

                       

            Step 3: Discipline note sent home by classroom teacher.

 

Step 4: Student sent to principal’s office for conference.  Parent will be informed of misconduct.

 

            Step 5: Parent will be called by principal on second trip to    

                        office.
