Accelerated Reader

Fast Facts

Where can we find AR books? Each teacher has some books in her classroom. Students can check books out of the Lower School library and read books from home or the public library. To check and see if a book is an AR book, click on the Magnifying Glass button on the bottom of this page.

How do I know what my child’s reading level is? Every student will have a reading log with his or her reading level indicated on a line marked “ZPD”. We have assigned colored dots to certain levels/ZPD’s to assist the students with locating books. Those colored dots are keyed for BBS only. They will not help you locate books at the public library. Please note that reading levels will change as students experience lasting success. Watch the reading log for changes.

When can students take AR tests? Students will be able to test during the school day only.

What are the goals for my child? The primary goal is that your child will enjoy reading while advancing his or her reading level. AR quizzes will also be used as part of your child's reading grade this year.

How can I know what my child is doing in AR? There is a parent component to AR which you can access from home. This will allow you to view your child’s progress. Click on the Book Button below to access Home Connect.
